 Exercise to music (Aerobics instructing)

 
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
 
Times:     Various
Location: TrainE-TraidE 
Duration: 40 hours home study & 4 day 
practical delivery (Sundays)
 
This course is for candidates who wish to teach exercise and aerobic classes. Candidates will gain all the practical skills and confidence needed to plan and teach aerobics classes. Candidates will learn how to add choreography to routines allowing creativity to be added to the classes, meaning customers are never bored of their routines. Candidates will also cover the theoretical knowledge to be able to advise people on exercise programmes within the studio environment as a fully qualified aerobics instructor.
 
Exercise and Fitness Knowledge Level 2 (Home Study)

This is a distance learning module supported by workbooks and a fully interactive CD Rom which takes approximately 40 hours to complete.  This is the foundation to all fitness courses.  Candidates are required to complete this home study module before taking part in the practical ETM days.  On completion of your home study you will be required to book the one hour multiple choice exam at a training venue in Central London.

• Concepts of Fitness • Bones and Joints
• Muscles • Kinesiology
• Energy Systems • Nutrition
• Cardio Respiratory Systems
 
Exercise to Music (Practical Sessions)

This is a four day practical module for the aspiring aerobics instructor. Candidates will be required to attend a practical assessment day 
approximately two weeks after completion of this Exercise to Music module.
 
Modules include:

• Use of Music • Essential Teaching Skills
• Choreography • Preparing People for Exercise
• Class Design and Structure • Muscular Strength and Endurance Training
• Cardiovascular Training • Relaxation and Stretching
• Health and Safety
 
Assessment and certification

The award is assessed against the National Standards for Exercise and Fitness. Candidates will be required to sit a theory paper and a practical Exercise to Music assessment where they will be required to bring along two participants. Successful completion will achieve Exercise to Music Instructor and entry to REPs at Level 2.
 
Entry Requirements:

There are no entry requirements for this course, although it is recommended that candidates have participated in exercise
 to music classes before commencing the course.
