EFAW (Emergency First Aid at Work) Qualification

This course will enable candidates to deliver quick and effective medical assistance to clients and gym members and can assure them a speedy recovery following treatment. Whether these skills are needed in or out of the gym environment, the First Aid course will provide candidates with the confidence needed to cope with and competently deliver basic First Aid before the arrival of a paramedic (if this is necessary).
This course covers the basics from essential First Aid (what should be in every First Aid box) how to deal with common injuries in the gym as well as basic resuscitation (CPR).
This is a half-day module where successful candidates will receive the EFAW qualification which is valid for 2 years, although an annual refresher is recommended.
Delegates receive training on the following ‘essential’ topics:
• Action at an Emergency
• Choking
• CPR
• Management of the unconscious casualty
• Bleeding
• Shock
• First aid kit contents
In addition, training is delivered that covers the following, additional, exercise specific topics:
• Sudden death syndrome
• Management of injury and illness within specific environments
• Management of special populations
• Other first aid practice
Assessment and Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the nationallyrecognised Emergency First Aid certificate which is valid for 2 years (annual refresher training recommended).
This qualification is accredited by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as the minimum level of statutory first aid training for those required to act in an emergency
Entry requirements:
Anyone can attend this First Aid course but it is specifically aimed towards those people working within the sport, fitness and/or exercise industries.
