 Ante and post natal exercise instruction

 
Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for Ante and post Natal Participants

Duration: 2 day Workshop
 
This course is designed for instructors wishing to work with low risk ante and post natal clients.  It is a two day intensive course and includes an invigilated case study exam at the end of the second day. Candidates must have a valid level 2 REPs qualification before completing this course.
 
During pregnancy, many women will be unsure of the appropriate exercise techniques to keep both their babies and their own health to an optimum. Following birth, many women wish to embark on a new fitness programme to remain fit and healthy but have to now consider changes that have occurred to their body. (Post natal).  This specialised workshop will enable candidates to deliver expert advice to low risk ante/post natal clients, expanding their expertise in other areas and allowing them to work with a wider variety of specialist clients.
 
Candidates will look at anatomical changes that occur during pregnancy, as well as physiological adaptations and psychological considerations of pregnancy. On completion of this course, candidates will also be able to deliver specific abdominal training recommendations for expecting mothers.

• Anatomical Change During Pregnancy
• Physiological Adaptations During Pregnancy
• Psychological Considerations of Pregnancy
• Exercise Adaptations within Gym and Studio Environments
• Current Physical Activity
• Abdominal Training Recommendations
 
Assessment and Certification

The award is assessed against the National Standards for Exercise and Fitness. Studentswill be required to sit a theory paper as well as completing a case study. The course leads to the Special Populations Award and carries 16 CPD points
 
Entry requirements:

A REPs recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructing or Exercise to Music qualification is required prior to commencing this course. This qualification should have been completed within the last 3 years or proof of current REPs status will also be required. Original copies of certificate(s) will need to be presented on the first attendance course or assessment. It is recommended that candidates have actively worked in the industry with a range of clients.
